BVMCL Scholarships for Texas A & M Marines

January 17, 2019

On January 17, 2019 the Brazos Valley Marine Corps League provided eight $500 scholarships to deserving Marines at Texas A & M. One was in class, so could not attend the ceremony.

The following are comments by recipients of the scholarships about what it means to them.

“Being chosen to receive the Marine Corps League Scholarship is a high honor. This gesture is a reminder that the Marine Corps never forgets its own. Financial hardship is a paramount concern for students, and has caused some individuals to drop out of their academic pursuits or place them on hold. This scholarship means financial security for me and ensures that I can focus on my studies and approach my future with confidence.” “As a Marine recipient of this scholarship, I want to thank you for your generous support. Before I joined the Marine Corps, my plan was to attend college and continue my education after my service. I believe this scholarship describes how Marines will always take care of each other no matter where they are at in their life. I am honored to receive the Marine Corps League Scholarship from my forever family.”
“I want to thank you for your generous donation! This scholarship will help me focus on getting good grades by relieving some of the financial stress commonly associated with earning a degree. This act of random kindness is a true testament to the Honor, Courage, and Commitment of the Marine Corps League. I look forward to the day that I may have an opportunity to give back to this profound network and institution, which has done so much for me.”
