BVMCL Scholarships for Texas A & M Marines

February 21, 2020

On February 21, 2020 the Brazos Valley Marine Corps League provided six $500 scholarships to deserving Marines at Texas A & M. Two Marines received additional scholarships from another source, but are included in the picture.

The following is a thank you note from one of the recipients of the scholarships about what it means to him.

The Marine Corps League,

I want to thank you for your generous donation I This scholarship will help me focus on getting good grades by relieving some of the financial stress commonly associated with earning a degree. Neither of my parents went to college, and they didn't have any money saved up to pay for mine when the time came, so I joined the Marine Corps to serve my country. After 4 years of serving honorably, I was discharged from the Marine Corps and immediately started attending Texas A&M University! l'm proud to say that I am about to be a Senior Electrical Engineering Student after this semester, and yesterday I was extended an offer to work for Black&Veatch as a summer intern at S28/hour! That's more than either of my parents have ever been paid in their lifetimes. With help from donors like you, I have been blessed to be a part of the American Dream: to start with nothing and earn a comfortable lifestyle and be successful through hard work, dedication, and opportunityl This act of random kindness is a true testament to the Honor, Courage, and Commitment of the Marine Corps League. I look forward to the day that I may have an opportunity to give back to this profound network and institution, which has done so much for me.

Thank you! Semper Fi and Gig'Em!
