Iwo Jima Battle 75th Anniversary Ceremony

Members of the Brazos Valley Marine Corps League attended the Commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the Battle for Iwo Jima. The formal ceremony was held at the Battleship Texas, which is anchored next to the San Jacinto Battleground.
Three veterans of the Iwo Jima Battle attended the ceremony. The commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the Battle for Iwo Jima was held facing the Battleship Texas.
The commemoration was opened with a review of the battle. The commemoration included the presentation of colors, reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, and a prayer.
A wreath was placed in the Houston Ship Channel next to the Battleship Texas in honor of those who served at the Battle for Iwo Jima. A salute to those who fought at Iwo Jima was then fired.
The commemoration was concluded with the playing of Taps. Comments on the experience of visiting Iwo Jima recently were provided at the dinner held after the commemoration.
